10/2/19- New Connections!

Today I met with a refugee organization in Phoenix that I have not worked with before. I was super excited because I am looking to expand HeartBEATS to more places in the area! The woman I met with leads the children’s section of the organization and is engaged in so many different events, programs, and activities. We talked about both of our programs, what we are hoping to accomplish, and how we can work together to achieve that. She is also an avid supporter of the arts and already includes the arts into what she does with refugees, so we had a lot of fun brainstorming potential ways for us to partner. We talked about having a potential “day of music” for the children during their school breaks where HeartBEATS and other programs could lead different activities, whether that is leading a music circle or DIY instruments. I am looking forward to what we decide upon!
