4/6/20-Study: Wellbeing and Integration Through Community Music

Updated: Jul 31, 2020

This week I wanted to share with you a study that looked at the role of music in connecting refugees and the community in Wales. The researchers found that musical experiences "create a space for cross-cultural dialogue" and "offer a resilient environment that fosters integration and well-being." I strongly encourage you to read through this report because they studied many of the same activities that HeartBEATS does, such as drum circles and improvisation with rhythm. I love to see that there are other people who recognize the importance of music as a facilitator of connection in small communities and that the effects programs like HeartBEATS can have are significant for all involved!
